72 cans of Coke, 15 pizzas, 18 budding programmers, 8 hours

The first CloudStaff “Lock in Computer Challenge” takes place on Friday 23 March at Angeles University, Philippines. Eighteen final year students from Angeles University College of Computer Studies will be “locked in” a room with 72 cans of Coke and 15 pizzas and have eight hours to complete a computer programming challenge designed by CloudStaff. Each team made up of two people will be given the same development assignment and at the end of the eight hours, the project will be judged by senior development staff from CloudStaff. . Scores will be assigned in the following categories: Database Structure 20%, Architecture 35%, Object Oriented Coding Style 35%, Presentation/User Interface: 10%.

The Prize

The first prize is 5,000 pesos, the second prize is 3,000 pesos and the third prize is 2,000 pesos. In addition, students will be eligible for an internship program at CloudStaff Development Center in Angeles.

Other Competitions

The CloudStaff Computer Challenge will also be run at other local universities and technical colleges over the next few months.

The Purpose

The purpose of the computer challenge is to raise awareness of opportunities that exist for students who choose a career in software development. It also showcases different development technologies.

Other Initiatives

The CloudStaff “Lock in Computer Challenge” is an initial part of CloudStaff’s “Community & Technology” support program. The second project is a 24-hour Internet “Dev” café which is designed to give students who do not have resources at home access to Internet and development-capable PCs. Manned Monitoring + Response

Manned Monitoring

The role of these engineers is to monitor your automated testing and periodically execute manual tests. You can tailor the manual tests to check most functions including payment gateways, security systems, clusters and more.

First Line of Defence

When a problem does occur, your Site Assured team can execute recovery procedure scripts that you have provided, or escalate the problem by contacting your technical staff.

Problem Escalation

If a problem is detected, your Site Assured engineer performs on-the-spot maintenance. Should that fail they will then escalate the problem to one of your technical engineers.

Monitor Vandalism or Content failure

Your dedicated Site Assured team can monitor your site for vandalism or content failure which may not be detected by your automated testing.

The PC Lab

The PC lab has a comprehensive array of over 50 different PC test units, from older legacy PCs to recently released PCs. We maintain duplicates of every type of PC in the test lab. This allows us to identify false-positive readings caused by a specific hardware issue on an individual PC.
