Time hack: Minding your time

Why do we need to manage our time? Why should we care about time management? Why is work-life balance necessary?

Time management is the ability to use one’s time effectively or productively at work and all other aspects of our life. Time management is easier said than done, but just like anything great you will ever accomplish, the hardest step is to begin.

We might have a lot of tasks to do and we wanted to extend the time we have to finish all of these. However, we always find that the time we have isn’t enough.

How to fix it?

First, you should know your priorities.
You’ll have trouble managing your time and making progress on your goals if you don’t set your priorities right. Accomplish first what is the most important until you get the last item on your list done. Have you experienced a time that you got caught up in what you’re doing and then you realised that it’s already midnight?

Then, we also need to limit ourselves in committing to things we cannot do.
The more commitments you have, the more extra tasks you have to take care of and that’s the easiest way to exhaust yourself. Make commitments only if you have the time and energy.

Lastly, we need to lessen our distractions.
Working without distractions is essential to focus on things. With proper concentration, you get your work done faster and you get the time to do other things within a day.

Let’s all remember when you don’t control your time, your time will control you. Your choices determine the person you will become. Every moment is a choice and you decide what to do with it. If you control how you spend your time, you can control your successes and failures and you will be able to get more of the right tasks done in less time.
